West Tweeddale Parishes
Next Steps

Many thanks for your interest in the local church. We are a group of 6 churches spanning Tweedsmuir, Broughton, Skirling, Kirkurd & Newlands, West Linton and Carlops.

Firstly, it’s important to say that our churches are for everyone, and we are a group of people who wish to make everyone feel at home, whether you are interested in coming on Sundays, or in a cup of coffee and an opportunity to chat or meet new people during the week, or to find out about events you might be interested in. Children are welcome, there is no obligation to give any money at any point, except on the rare occasions when we have a ticketed event.

It’s also important to say that a lot of the things that happen in our churches would be impossible without our local communities to help organise, run and promote them. This is such an essential thing, and we are so thankful for these relationships.

You may be here because you have questions about faith

Our churches aren’t made up of perfect people (but the baking is very, very good!), and looking for perfection in others isn’t important to us. It’s enough that we are on the same path, aiming for the same things with Jesus as our guide.

What did Jesus ask his followers to do? Love God and love others as we love ourselves. We are also asked to share his story.

If you would like to attend a service the times of those in West Tweeddale Parishes are here.

Am I supposed to believe everything it says in the Bible?

No, we welcome discussion about what it means and how we might learn from it.

Several Bible discussion groups meet regularly around our linkage; any of them would be glad to include you.

Do I need to believe in God to come to church?

No.  We don’t all believe the same thing; there are probably as many shades of belief as there are people in our churches every Sunday!

No one will ask you what you believe, but if you would like to talk or ask questions, someone can arrange a chat with you.

Events Monday to Saturday

There are lots of events around the churches every month. Many involve tea and a chat, some involve children and others centre on singing or talks.

All our events are laid out in this diary. See the code at the bottom which indicates where the event is held  West Tweeddale Parishes. Click here.

Finally, we have published a survey to gauge attitudes to the church. If you have a few minutes to complete it, we would be very grateful. Click here.
